Anything Virtuous, Lovely and of Good Report....

I just needed to vent about something for a minute and then I can move on with my life. Yesterday I was watching the news and they covered a story about a new calendar called Hot Mormon Muffins. Basically it is Mormon, and I use that term loosely, women dressed immodestly, some in provocative positions. And can I say there is enough silicone to go around in that calendar? The man behind the calendar also did one, just as distasteful, called “men on a mission”. It is the same type of idea except with men. After that first calendar he was excommunicated, no surprise.

I know that there are people out there like him that we shouldn’t lose sleep over but my main beef is with the women. They are claiming that they are active church going woman. But of course, when you see this calendar you ask the question, “Does going to church every Sunday make you truly active?” The tmz website said,

“Meet the Mormon Muffins -- hot mothers, all active in the church, who love showing skin just as much as they love Joseph Smith Jr.”

Can you believe that? They all should just put lightening rods on their heads right now.

One of the moms said,

“The pictures are tasteful, and it’s fun. I don’t see why people can’t have a sense of humor. I just don’t think it’s a big deal.”

She also talks about how she goes to church and is raising her girls with its values. Ha! I keep hearing the scripture, “They draw near unto me with their lips but their hearts are far from me.”

She said that she is not the stereotypical Mormon mom(something to be proud of.) and that we need to be more tolerant. Is she asking the Lord to change his standards and be more tolerant? The standards of the church are not up for debate. They come from the Lord through the scriptures and His prophets.

I guess the thing that irritates me most is that these women are claiming to be active members but are out there violating its standards by, in my opinion, distributing a form of pornography. If they want to debase themselves by being a part of something as far from virtuous and lovely as you can get then fine, but please don’t pretend to be a good Mormon mother who isn’t doing anything that should be offensive to other members. And, if we do feel offended it’s our problem, we just need to be more tolerant.

These are the modern times but we are lead by Jesus Christ who is the same yesterday, today and forever. We don’t change to fit the times and the world’s standards. I am just really disappointed that these women are claiming to be regular active members of the church. Actions speak louder than words ladies. Where do your hearts lie?

I am officially off of my soap box. I can move on with life and put this behind me. I just needed to get it off my mind. I feel better now. 

Someone at Charles' work (who is not a member) e-mailed him the article, and asked what he thought about it . . . It led to a bit of a discussion, and questions. So, if nothing else, the muffin-heads are causing others to ask the real members questions! What a great missionary tool! HA!

I enjoyed your venting, and I agree 100%. Thank goodness for the REAL (not fake) Mormon moms.:-)

The term "Steadfast and Immovable" comes to mind . . . those so called "Devout Dozen" ladies are a bunch of "push overs"!

How nice for them that it is recorded for their posterity . . . what a great legacy they are leaving for their families. Brilliant ladies-- just brilliant!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I'm so glad I married into a family that has strong values with women who are not afraid to be a righteous woman of God. That calendar stuff makes me sick too, all what you mentioned and then the fact that they're "portraying" mormons as something so far from who we really are.

I agree with all of the other comments and everything you said completely!! How frustrating for some women who claim to be one of us to blatantly go against everything we stand for, and not seem to have a clue. Satan obviously has more than a few flaxen cords around their necks.
