Garage Conversion

For the last month and a half we have been converting the back half of our garage into a family room. I have been dying for more room for a while. It can get pretty tight in our house so this added space will be so, so, so nice. I started by cleaning out the back half of the garage to prep it for my dad's arrival to help us put up the wall. Thanks goodness he came because he new exactly what he was doing. If it were left to Tyson and I who knows if it would ever be done. Thanks Dad!!!
All that is left to do is put carpet in and put trim around the doorways and window. This room will be so convenient because it will be right off the kitchen and finally the laundry room will be a part of the house. It sits in the back of the garage so I have to walk through the garage to get there...very inconvenient. It was pretty easy to ignore the piles and piles of laundry that would build up. Those days will soon be behind me. My husband and kids will finally have clean clothes to wear on a regular basis.
Below are some pictures of the progress from beginning to this point. I can't wait for it to be complete and in use!

I had just finished tearing down the old drywall so we could put up insulation and some new drywall on the already existing walls.

After the insulation and new drywall are up. You can see they have started framing the new wall.

First section of the wall up. Yay!

Hanging up the sheetrock.

Most of the drywall up.

Right after Tyson was let loose with the texture gun.

Finally, texture and paint on the walls. The colors are hazelnut cream and flint smoke(blue/gray color) I love them. I will post more pictures when it is complete. Hopefully sooner than later.

Your home is so cozy and inviting . . . now you will have more room to feel cozy in! Hope your fireplace adds to your coziness this winter! Sure was fun to sit by the fire!
