Parenting 101

Today Ian, my 4 year old, asked me to come to the family room where he was.  I was busy in the kitchen and not really responding to him or particularly paying attention.  Sad, I know.  I was in the middle of trying to do the dishes and was listening to talk radio.  I guess I was using select hearing like my kids do.  Eventually I heard him say, "Mom, come here.  1....2.....4....3."  It cracked me up that he was counting like I do with him.  And yes he can count to correctly to 3.  I think the slow counting was confusing him a little. :) Even after he got to 3 he kept counting.  What does that say about my parenting?  To many chances maybe?
