Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.
I am sure most people have heard this saying before. Well, this is my husband to a T. You look at his clothes, his cars, whatever. I love this about him, most of the time. ;) I love that he doesn't care what others think about, most of the time. He has worn shoes to work until there were holes in the bottom. On rainy days he would come home with wet socks. We would mostly just laugh about that. He has a bike that he has had since high school, and he bought it used then. It was pretty old. He would drool about other peoples bikes but money always had to go elsewhere....poor guy. He participated in a triathlon a few years back. While so many people around him had awesome bikes that Tyson would only dream about he was riding his old, worn out bike from high school. I remember thinking how awesome that he didn't care or feel embarrassed. Of course he would have loved to have a nice bike but was still grateful to have one that got him from point A to B. A while back his bike had enough. It put out a few last coughs and sputters and alas, it gave up the ghost! He has been without a bike for almost a year. This is difficult because one thing we love to do as a family is go on bike rides, especially down the greenbelt along the river. We have really been missing that! It is getting to be that time of year where the greenbelt is calling to us! Luckily, Tyson was able to get a bike! Hallelujah!!! He has been looking on line the past several months with little luck. He is a tall guy so he needs a bigger bike. He perused some bike shops last weekend and went away frustrated to not be able to find anything in his price range. Well, luckily he found a website especially for selling bikes and he struck gold! The frame was large and so far xl seemed the best fit. However, it did vary from brand to brand. He called up the guy and set up a time to come see it. We crossed our fingers that it would fit. It was a great deal. The guy had won it in a raffle and didn't really need it. It is basically new. Luckily it fit!! We can now ride whenever we want. Summer here we come!! We are officially ready!! Nothing is better on a hot summer day than riding along the river and feeling the cool breeze off the water. I love the smell and sounds of the birds. I love that we don't have to worry about cars and I love to be with my family. :) BTW, he got to ride his bike to work today. Oh Happy Day!!
