We try to have regular scripture study with our kids. It's an important part of our lives. It helps us to learn more about our Savior and helps bring the spirit into our home. Sometimes my kids are distracted and not listening very well and it can be a little frustrating. But, we do it because we KNOW that our family needs it and our children will benefit even if, at times, you wonder how much is sinking in. Boys can be awfully distracted, at least my boys. :)
On Saturday night, during our scripture study, we read of Alma 32. It is a great chapter comparing faith to a seed. The next day at church I was scratching Matt's back during sacrament meeting. That is always a nice way to relax him and help him sit through sacrament meeting. It was the last talk of the meeting and the speaker started talking about that chapter. Matt said, "Hey, that's what we talked about last night." I was so happy. Even if it seems like our kids aren't listening they can surprise us. Even if it can be a struggle to do it we do it none the less because we have faith in the Lord. He will bless us and our children and that moment with Matt reminded me of that. I love moments like. It's like the Lord is saying, "It's worth it. The blessings will come. Keep it going!"
