I'm a Big Girl Now

We have 6 twin mattresses in all and only 4 kids. I know...that's a lot. I like the extras for guests and they're easy to move around. I saw some pallet sectionals on pinterest and felt creatively inspired to build one of my own. putting the mattresses on top. I wanted to put it in my boys play/hang out room. It could be used for slumber parties, guests or just a place to lounge while the kids watch a movie or play the Wii. I usually don't like doing big projects without Tyson. I felt a little intimidated by power tools. However, since I am an independent grown up, and don't want to wait for my husband to have free time to help I decided to tackle it myself. I made the plans, did the measurements, even sawed (With a power saw mind you.) and drilled. I had Tyson help me with sawing on some tricky pieces I couldn't figure out and a little bit of drilling but the rest was all me!! Phase one of play/hangout room makeover...check. BTW, it cost me pretty much next to nothing since the pallets were free.

BTW, in the future I might paint the pallets...we'll see.  I also need to paint the room, get some stuff on the walls and add some cute sheets and throw pillows.  Kaleb and Ian already had two sleepovers there this weekend.  They love it!

Trying to shorten the long pallet to just the right size.

Mostly done.  All that was left was sanding to clean the wood and keep the slivers away from my kids.

Fits perfectly in the room.  Yea!  My measurements were correct.
