Birthday Details

After my last post I had a friend ask for more details of my birthday.  It got me thinking that there were some fun birthdays things that happened so I should document them for memory/posterity sake.

My birthday was on a Wednesday.  Wednesday Matt has scouts and Tyson has mutual so we decided to have Kellen's and my birthday party on Saturday.  Our parties are low key....just cake and presents...no huge traditions.

I did have a great day on my actual birthday though.  Tyson and I had planned to go to lunch but he surprised me by taking the rest of the day off after that.  His mom watched the kids while we went to some really posh Italian place downtown.  It was one of those places that has things like butternut squash ravioli with fresh goat cheese...really trendy.  I liked it but still prefer traditional, cheese smothered/filled Italian food the best.  It was really yummy and thoughtful of Tyson to try and mix my love of Italian with something new.

Tyson had printed off a list of movies and times and let me choose the one I wanted to see.  I really wanted to see Enders Game but was in the middle of the book and didn't want to ruin it.  The Hobbit was playing but we wanted to wait to take our boys to see it at the cheap theater.  We ended up going with the new Thor movie.  We liked it, not loved it, but liked it.  It was fun, and always is fun, to hang out together all by ourselves.

For birthday gifts he got me a BBC movie and a boo.  That shows he is listening.:) I had told him recently that for my Christmas and my birthday present, every year, I'd love a new book and a movie (preferbly BBC) to build up my collection.  I don't know what it is but I LOVE, LOVE BBC movies and series.  Thanks to my cousin Katie for giving him suggestions.  She is also an avid BBC lover.

Here is the movie I got.  I've seen it a few times before and never tire of it!

Another thing that made the day special was a friend brought me a huge delcious slice of caramel chocolate cake and flowers.  Another friend emailed me and offered to watch Ian.  I actually planned on taking him there but then was surprised by Tyson and his mom was already watching the boys at our house.  I really appreciate her thinking of me.  I got the annual call/birthday song serenade from my mom and dad.  And the top the day off that evening I got some flowers from my visiting teachers.  They also brought a little board Dr. Suess book for Kellen's birthday...so sweet of them!

It was a good birthday thanks to thoughtful people and a wonderful husband. :)

I liked the movie. It is not my favorite BBC, but it was good, and worth watching. (There are a lot of them like that!) I'm afraid it is hard to beat Pride and Prejudice! Though I do think the main character in North and South could have made a great Mr. Darcy! :-)
