Epic Fail

Don't you love the title?  Everyone is saying it so I thought I'd join the band wagon. ;)  It makes me really cool I know.

So my epic fail happened yesterday.  We had the annual cub scout Blue and Gold banquet.  Kaleb was excited and all ready in his scout shirt...he loves to wear it.  In the past Matt has hated wearing his scout shirt.  He has a new scout shirt, on of the khaki colored ones, and he doesn't seem to mind that one.  Maybe because he feels like a boyscout now instead of just a cubscout. Whatever the reason we are glad he's more willing to wear that one.

For some reason though, maybe because I was in a hurry to get to the dinner with 10 dozen cookies our ward was assigned to bring, I didn't even think of the fact that Matt seems to like his new shirt and will wear it.  I just thought since Matt is technically no longer a cubscout, he's meets with the 11 yr old troop now, I decided it was a battle I didn't want to fight that day so I didn't.  Even though it wouldn't have been as much a battle with the new shirt but I wasn't thinking of that. I thought he wasn't going to be doing anything but sitting with us while we watched all the awards, etc.  I know some of you are thinking he's a scout at a scout event and should have his scout stuff on.  I agree but Matt can be a complicated guy.

Well, it ended up he was getting his Webelos and his Arrow of Light...a big deal in scouts.  So there Matt was, not in one ounce of scout anything.  I think he was a little embarrased being the only one not in a uniform.  I even got pinned for the first time.

I also forgot my camera so none of it is documented.  I'll have to have him put on his scout shirt with all his new stuff and take a picture to document it.

What a bummer on the one day we decide not to wage the scout shirt battle.   And, it probably woudn't have even been a battle. Dang it!

All of that being said we are proud of Matt and his accomplishments in scouts.

I'd just do that. Get him in his shirt one last time and take that pic of all of his accomplishments.

I'm sure no one thought twice about it, it was so hot in there most people were lethargic anyway. :-) My Epic Fail was not being in the room when Daniel was receiving his awards! At least you were there! I think making him pose for a picture sounds like a good plan. Maybe it was just me, but it was a rough night last night, a little too long for the little ones (and the big ones, too!)

When Lucas was in preschool he was student of the week. They would spend a little time each day talking about him based on the stuff I filled out on his "Student of the Week" form and his "Student of the Week poster board". To wrap it all up at the end of the week he could bring his favorite treat to share with the class. I found the remember note 3 weeks after the fact under the back seat of our car. That meant that whole special week did not happen for him. I felt HORRIBLE and talked to the preschool teacher. She made sure we could do it a different week before preschool was done. EPIC FAIL!

Marisha, I totally remember that! When Weston was in soccer, the girls were babies he had a soccer game and snacks. We arrived, I unpacked the stroller and the girls and busy Wyatt headed over to the soccer field and all his teammates were packing away their stuff. We had the wrong time. Or how about the time I didn't show up for Wyatt's 5th grade graduation assembly. Heard about it later from the other Mom's in my ward. The list goes on and on..sad to say!
