Gifts

Everyone is blessed with special gifts.  There are a few I was thinking of last night as I was reading in bed.  I was overwhelmed with gratitude that I could be the beneficiary of some of these gifts because others are wiling to share them.  Thank you!

I love to read.  It's my time to decompress and relax.  I love to be taken to another place in my head.  I love to be swallowed up in a story that can evoke real emotions.  I love the way writers can capture the essence of the human condition...the good and the bad.  I love how you can visualize a scene because of the detailed descriptions or feel like you truly know a character.  Did I mention I love it enough?  Love.Love.Love!

I am amazed by people's abilities to spin wonderful stories straight out of their imaginations.  I am equally amazed by peoples abilities to document real stories for us to learn about and remember. Some people just have a way with words.  They can capture your attention and pull you right in.  Maybe I'm so in awe because that is not a talent I have and that's okay.  I glad I can benefit from others who have that talent. :)

Music is another gift that people are given that I love and benefit from.  Like a good book, music moves and touches me like nothing else.  I am so grateful for the talents of others that I can benefit from.  I am amazed by the musical abilities of others.  Sometimes I hear a song and it just does something to my soul.  Even if there aren't words I can feel elevated and enlightened.  It's like a language that my spirit understands...no words necessary.  And then there is the combination of words with music.  Two of my favorite things put together.

Give me a good book, some great music, some delicious chocolate and a quiet spot and I'm in heaven.

Speaking of heaven, I have no doubt that there will be music there.  I just hope there will be a library filled with books in my mansion prepared above too. :)

You're right books and music are such great things. I love them both.

Thank goodness we all have different gifts! The world would be very boring if we were all the same. The hardest thing is being able to identify and own up to our own gifts. I remember they had us do that one time in Relief Society. We had to go around the room and say what one of our own gifts/talents were. It was pretty interesting to hear the answers! It was hard for a lot of people to own their own talents.

I too am grateful for music and the written word, and people willing to put themselves out there to share it!
