October Fun

So the month of October was a busy but good one. Tyson and I took a trip to California...without the kids!! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The reason for our trip was my older brother Eric's graduation from the CHP academy. That makes him 2nd generation California Highway Patrol. My dad is a retired CHP so it was a big deal for our family. All of my family was able to be there which was pretty awesome.
The funnest part of the graduation was after the ceremony. We all went out to a track they have there to train their cadets for high speed chases, etc. They put on an awesome show for us with cool cars and motorcycles at extremely high speeds. We are just glad that no one lost control and broke through the little concrete barrier between us and them. The barrier would have done nothing to protect us so we were glad everything went off without a hitch, or so we thought. Afterwards we got to look at the cars and my sister overheard the drivers talking amongst themselves about all the things that happened that they didn't plan. Thankfully they were able to right the mistakes and we were none the wiser.
We were able to spend a day in San Francisco while we were there with my brother Dustin and his wife. It happened to be Fleet Week so there were a lot of people down by the pier. We saw some cool tricks by the blue angels, got a picture with a man dressed up as a golden pirate, had some delicious clam chowder and got to hang out in China Town for awhile.
As a perfect end to the day we stopped by the Oakland temple. Tyson had never seen it before so I was excited to show him. That is the temple I went to for youth baptisms while growing up in California. It is one of my favorites.

Oakland Temple...Beautiful!!

Later in the month was Halloween, of course. Since it fell on a Sunday we didn't trick or treat but my kids did get plenty of candy at the ward trunk or treat on Friday. My boys were all Ninjas. They looked pretty cool. So this year they were the 3 ninjas and I told them next year they should be the 3 Amigos. That movie is a classic in our house. On Sunday we had a good time watching Harry Potter and eating the kids candy so all in all it was a fun Halloween weekend.
