Smart Little Cookie
Today we went to the school to watch Kaleb's 1st grade music program. While we were there Ian and some other little guys found some gym mats stacked up in the hall outside of the gym. They came up to a about my waist. They started climbing up them and jumping off. I didn't think much of it. Eventually the principal came out and said, "Hey, you need to be careful jumping off that." (reading between the lines I knew he was saying, "You need to stop because the school doesn't want to be liable for any injuries.") After he left Ian, who was still on top of the gym mats said, "Mom, can you help me jump?". In response I said, "The principal told us not to jump off the mats."(Since I could read between the lines.) To this he replied, "He said to be careful jumping off." What a smart 3 year old that he caught the exact words and tried to use them to his advantage. Of course I had to help him jump after that. After all, those were the principals exact words right? How could I argue with that?
