1st Swim Meet

Matt is on a summer swim team.  It's through the community pools and is only during the summer.  Each community pool has it's own swim team and they compete against each other.  Today is the first swim meet.  Feeling a little nervous....I even had dreams about it last night!  I'm not even the one swimming. I don't want to tell Matt that of course.  Maybe it just takes me back to my days on the high school swim team.  I would get super nervous before every meet, almost physically ill.  I did love it though.  It's pretty exciting.  That competition of racing someone always gets the adrenaline going.  Racing was such a blur.  I would just keep pumping my legs as hard as I could until I felt like they would fall off.  I always felt like my lungs were about to burst too. There was one race where I was so in the zone and full of adrenaline that I went a extra 50 yards.  I remember coming into the wall with my couch there saying, "You won, you won!"  I was so confused!  Why were there no other swimmers in the water. I couldn't believe I was that far behind. Finally what my coach was saying sunk in and I breathed a sigh of relief.  I didn't always win my races and to do it in such a dramatic fashion was pretty cool. So, enough reminiscing.  I am excited to be in that atmosphere again but clearly, since I'm dreaming about it, a little nervous too.
