Projects

I was driving my kids to school when I saw a piece of furniture on the sidewalk with a 'free' sign on it.  I started seeing visions of before and afters that I'd seen all over blogs and pinterest.  I decided to give it a try.  I knew that Tyson would think it was very ugly, which it kind of was, but he can never see the diamond in the rough when he sees a piece of dated furniture.  When he saw it the first thing he said was like I predicted, how ugly it was.
Here is a sort of before picture.  I had already painted but you can see the original color inside where the record player and stereo dials are.  The whole thing was that dark, fake wood color.

Ian really wanted to be in the picture.

Original material that covered the speakers.
Before I started the project I was thinking of colors I could paint it and material I could use to cover the speakers.  Since we are on a tight budget I tried to keep it cheap, meaning free. I ended up using paint and material that I already had at home.  I'm still trying to decide what I think of the finished product.  What do you think?

Here is a frame I made a while back.  I used the leftover material from this for the little table.  I wonder if it's too much yellow and blue in my front room maybe.  I might try and find some different material for the table, eventually.  Projects are fun, especially when they are fast and free! :)

I'm not the person to be answering your questions due to the fact that I don't decorate, so I can't shed any light on your questions.
I DO, however, think it looks great and think you should be proud of this only costing you the paint...........or was that free as well? Then that means it was completely free which makes it even MORE amazing and just cost you your time, which it sounds like, was fun for you, which means this was THE PERFECT PROJECT for you and for that, congratulations are in order.

I think it is amazing! Love the fabric and colors. Not too much yellow, at least from what I can tell in the picture. But then again, I love yellow. The only thing I would do is replace the legs. Not sure about those diagonal funny legs. But that's just me. LOVE IT!! You're very talented!

I think it looks awesome! I love seeing how other people can transform things like this, it is not my gift, but it looks like you have the knack.
