Conference Memory

Between sessions for Sunday's general conference I was thinking back to past conference memories.  Growing up we lived in California and your couldn't get conference on television unless you had cable.  For a little while we had cable but for the majority of time we didn't.  We went to the church building to watch both Saturday and Sunday sessions.

As a child it was pretty daunting to be sitting still for that long, 8 hours total, in 2 days.  However, I am grateful to my parents for showing us the importance of listening to our church leaders.  Tyson and I always try to watch both the Saturday and Sunday sessions of conference with our children.
We have it so much easier than my parents though.  Since we watch at home it's a little more relaxed.  I can't imagine what is was like for them to try and get 6 kids to sit for 8 hours in 2 hour intervals.  CRAZINESS!!  They did it though because they knew it was important and crucial.  Thanks mom and dad for sacrificing some of you sanity to show us what was important! ;)

I have a particular memory from a conference session that floats around in my head and comes to the surface once in a while.  It is was a simple yet extremely powerful testimony building moment for me.   It was during one of those conferences that we watched the short time we had cable.  Even though we had cable we still went to one Saturday and one Sunday session at church.  This particular memory was when we were at home.

Since conference at home is a little more relaxed you can fall asleep a little easier.  I always tried to stay awake but always toward the end, being so comfortable laying on the floor, I would start to drift off.
